CHEERIO stands for SCOPE Exchange Preparation is a Pre-Departure Training (PDT) with the theme Hospital Departments: Look Into The Future, that held by SCOPE CIMSA FK UNPAD to prepare outgoings students season 2021-2022. IFMSA Professional Exchange Program is an exchange where outgoings will experience a clinical clerkship in one department in the destination country’s hospital. This year’s exchange preparation is held via online platform due to the COVID-19 pandemic that is still happening in Indonesia. CHEERIO was held on November 28th, 2020 via zoom meeting.
CHEERIO consisted of three main sessions. The first session was a presentation by Salsabila Ameranti Putri as Local Exchange Officer (LEO) SCOPE CIMSA FK Unpad and CIMSA-Certified Exchange Trainer about the exchange, exchange documents, and exchange conditions that are needed to be prepared by outgoing before departure. At the end of the session, the participants were allowed to ask the speaker about stuff related to the exchange so that they could get a clear picture about it.
The second session was a talk show about departments in hospitals and how to properly choose the department in the exchange program. To accomplish this aim, CHEERIO invited Dr. dr. Ruswana Anwar, Sp.OG-KFER, M.Kes as Chairman of the Education Coordination Committee of RSUP Dr. Hasan Sadikin, Bandung. In the talk show, he also shared about his fellowship experiences in several countries and how to maximize the impact of this exchange opportunity.
The last session of CHEERIO is presentation about global health, social determinants of health, and exchange roles in those things by Hotman David Nababan as IFMSA-Certified Public Health Leader.
We hope this activity is able to prepare the knowledge and skills in various matters, such as Global Health Issue, Bioethics, and Intercultural Learning that will be beneficial for outgoings.
